Who Am I?
My name is Erin Zinger and I am in my first year at the University of Regina. I was accepted in the Middle Years program in August 2015 and I am so excited to finally be carrying out my life long desire to be a teacher. I've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. Both my parents were teachers which may contributed to my desire to become one.
Here are some things that you should know about me. I grew up in Regina Saskatchewan with an older brother, Brendan, and a younger sister, Arden, and I am fortunate enough to be close with both of them. I love living in the city because it is close to everything that is going on, but when I need a getaway I go with my family to our cabin on Last Mountain Lake. At the cabin my outdoorsy side kicks in; there's wildlife, the lake and so much more to engage in in the outdoors, I love it all!
Before attending the U of R, I attended Luther College High School in Regina. I graduated in 2015 with a love for English, thanks to my grade 12 English teacher. Also, my interest in German grew throughout high school thanks to my parents and grandparents whom all speak German fluently. I continued learning German in my first year of Education, and I plan on going even further with my studies.
Having a younger sibling gave me lots of experience with a variety of ages and stages of development as my sister grew older. But that being said, I am mostly interested in teaching Middle Years students in grade six to nine. These years of childhood were memorable for me due to the experiences that I went through at W.S. Hawrylak School in Regina. I also think that these years are critical for students to develop life long skills that some of them would otherwise lack without the proper education. I am so excited to become a teacher to encourage students to love learning, because I do!
